Relationships always have their ups and downs. This is due to many different factors. One very popular situation involves starting a relationship with someone who has kids while the other person does not. Beginning a life with someone who already has children isn’t something every person can handle.
Many people see the start of a relationship as a time where the two can focus on each other. However, when kids are involved, things are a bit more complicated.
While many people dream of having children, plenty of people feel the exact opposite. Because of this, love is not always as simple as it seems. Some couples end up separating strictly due to differing on this topic.
Even when individuals with children do begin a relationship, introducing their two worlds to each other is not easy. They have to consider the consequences. They have to decide if the person they are dating is important and permanent enough to bring them into their children’s lives.
One story in particular has been flooding the internet, as a father fought against all odds to create the most content life for his daughter, Brilee. No one (including the family itself) could believe how this story ended up.

When Kacie met her husband, Jonathan Davis, they immediately knew that forever was inevitable for them. Something just clicked when they got to know each other, leaving a clear and happy future ahead. However, Jonathan was slightly hesitant regarding one extremely important part of his life. He never could have expected what was in store for him.

In addition to an older child, Jonathan also had a daughter, Brilee, from a previous relationship, and wasn’t sure how Kacie would feel upon meeting her. While there is always hope that the person you are dating will be accepting of your children, unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way. Many people can consider this to be a deal breaker. However, as Jonathan would soon find out, this was not the case with Kacie.

When Kacie and Jonathan began their relationship, Kacie was introduced to Jonathan’s children. One was already grown up, but the other, Brilee, was still young. While this situation would seem to be a lot of pressure for many people, it was far from it for Kacie. She bonded with Brilee immediately.

Sadly, Brilee’s biological mother was never really around much. When Brilee was born, Jonathan took on the role of a single father raising Brilee by himself. With Brilee’s mother coming around very rarely, Jonathan did not have it easy. However, he made it work and managed to be a wonderful father.

Regardless of not having a mother around, Brilee was raised to be a beautiful, smart young girl. Through the years, Brilee constantly sought a relationship with her mother but never received what she was looking for. Little did she know, the relationship she was seeking would eventually reach her.

Over the years, Brilee and Kacie developed a very strong relationship. Because Brilee’s mother was never really around, she was finally experiencing a mother-daughter connection with Kacie. Kacie fell in love with Brilee and found this new responsibility a blessing instead of a burden. No one could have expected what their future had in store.

Since Brilee’s birth mother still had parental rights, Kacie couldn’t officially adopt Brilee. This was extremely unfortunate as Brilee had already accepted Kacie to be like a mother to her. In the meantime, Kacie and Jonathan have had two children together. Within their little family, Brilee is the only one who wasn’t legally Kacie’s child. Although she felt just as loved by Jonathan and Kacie as her siblings, there was always something missing.

Kacie tried to obtain parental rights over Brilee as she believed it was what everyone deserved. Kacie fought day after day to try and earn her title as Brilee’s mother, but her biological mother refused to give up her rights. Despite her absence in Brilee’s life, she still wanted to maintain parental rights.

Even though Kacie was not legally or biologically Brilee’s mother, that did not take away from the relationship they had. Brilee knew deep in her heart that none of that mattered. Kacie was the only mother figure that had ever been there for her and for that, she considered her to be her mother.

Although Brilee knew that Kacie was her mother at heart, Kacie still would not rest. Kacie and Jonathan worked hard in hopes of making this adoption happen. Through many court dates and frustrating conversations, Kacie and Jonathan fought for the right to give Brilee the mother she deserved.

On their final court date, Kacie and Jonathan gathered all of their hope and prayed for the best. After a long battle, they were exhausted to say the least. The chances of this adoption happening were slim to none, and they knew that.

To their surprise, Brilee’s biological mother did not end up showing to the court date. Because of this, the judge awarded Kacie with parental rights to Brilee. It was official: Kacie would finally be Brilee’s “legal” mother. They were ecstatic to tell Brilee, but they wanted to do it with a twist.

When they got home, Kacie and Jonathan had a plan to tell Brilee of the wonderful news. They knew it would be an extremely emotional moment, so they decided to record it. With excitement and joy, they approached the living room and sternly called Brilee in to join them.

Understandably, Brilee was very confused. With her father and stepmother randomly calling her into the living room with big news, she wondered what could possibly be going on. That’s when Kacie shared the big news with a giant smile on her face. Brilee was in absolute shock.

Kacie explained to Brilee what had happened in the courtroom. She then said, “Brilee Davis, you have been like a daughter to me, from the day that I met you. Now I want you to be not like a daughter. Will you be my real daughter?”

Brilee nodded her head and agreed through hysterical tears of joy. Now a teenager, Brilee had been waiting for this moment for years. The video goes on to show Brilee, Kacie and Jonathan all hugging and crying. Now, Brilee can finally say she her legal mother is a wonderful one.

The amount of love between Brilee and Kacie was always there. The difference now is that they have the closure they need to feel like they are truly family. This story has warmed the hearts of many as it proves that sharing blood is not always necessary to be a true family.
