As her time in the jungle increased, Chapman became more and more monkey-like. She perfected the art of climbing into the canopy with ease. By scaling trees, her muscles began to bulge. She finally found self-acceptance — as she no longer was forced to sleep on the floor while the monkeys patrolled the trees. While the monkeys did provide a soothing environment, Chapman’s young life was turned upside-down by what she encountered one day in the jungle.
