Frightened by his abrasive appearance, Chapman cowered out of fear. The man grabbed Chapman — quickly examining her teeth before discarding her quickly. Though Chapman begged for food in something indiscernible from an actual language, the man shooed her away. This instituted a sense of resentment and fear towards the human race. Above all else, it fortified Chapman’s thought that she was indeed a monkey. This eye-opening experience wouldn’t be the last Chapman would have with humans in the jungle.
