After a year in the jungle, Chapman had began naming some of her fellow compatriots in the jungle. White-Tip was a smaller monkey who enjoyed climbing on Chapman’s back. Brownie and Spot were gentle, loving monkeys with whom she built a solid rapport. Rudy and Romeo were more rambunctious. Like herself, a monkey named Mia was on the shyer side. Chapman would routinely look out for her well-being — especially when bullied by other monkeys. While the aforementioned quartet held special places in her heart, there was one other monkey considered to be Chapman’s favorite. This special creature ended up saving her young life.
